I thought it would be nice to list some qualities of a serene place. What does it mean to me to have a serene place? For example, I will start.

To me a serene place is where I feel safe. Safe to be me.

1. That's a good one.

For me, I need it to be perfectly quiet. If I go to the library or book store, it drives me insane when people are talking too loud, or worse yet...talking on their cell phones! It absolutely sends me up the wall. And you know how I feel about those idiots down the street and their fireworks!

Silence is hugely important to my serenity.

But then so is my music. If I am feeling stressed or overwhelmed by the onslaught of guest issues at work. I go on my break and put on my mp3 player..and fade out. Even just for those few minutes makes it easier to cope again.

I love coming home to my quiet cool, earth toned bedroom. The scent of patchouli and incense so subtle in the air. Now that brings me serenity.

silence, good natural visuals...good earthy scents..those are good! mine too...perfect combination. also de-clutter. when it's too cluttered i feel like things are talking to me and i have to clean up to get it to be quiet.

Serenity in going to sleep is a nice good meditation "karma releasing" or "chakra clearing" CD or tape. where it goes does to specific parts of your body and, in mindfulness, asks you to relax each part... Nice relaxing tunes in the background... It keeps me focused on what is being said as opposed to all the thoughts that can keep me awake.

Water. :)

I don't need silence, in fact, silence makes me a bit paranoid. ;)

5. Ooh, I like water too. I am almost pure water - astrologically speaking; and I love to be near large bodies of water. Very calming.

Also, I like people of like-mindedness like those I find here and on HSP. There is something serene about talking quietly with good friends who understand you and to whom you can offer comfort and serenity in return.

B~Spirit what a lovely thing to say. And you're right, HSP is a great place and I always feel accepted there.

The sound of water...is so serene. My dream is to live in a little stone cottage on the coast. Have my herb garden and my cats.

In my bedroom I have a pretty mantle clock....well anyway it ticks. If the clock stops ticking there is no way I can get to sleep. I never thought of it but I guess it's sort of meditative. As if I don't hear that, I hear all the worries and stresses of my day swirling through my mind.

across the (ten lane) road from me is an artificial lake, it is only about 50 steps - to a small gathering of ducks and black swans, whose company i enjoy greatly at 3 or 4am! - there's usually a gentle breeze across the water, and a great place to star gaze and admire the moon..

I used to live in a place where I could find ducks and white swans. Was so serene. Those days are long gone.

Thank you for posting nails58, I'm afraid Serenity Seeker is a bit of a no goer lately.
